Over the past 12 months, there has been a lot of talk in Liverpool about a certain Harvey Nichols expansion. It was thought that, just like in the rest of the country, they’ve decided to open a new store in the city. Rather than the expected, Harvey Nicks decided to go out of their way a little to give the people in Liverpool (who have waited an awfully long time to be shown suitable attention by the company) something more. That ‘something’ is Beauty Bazaar. The dedicated cosmetics store will be home to some of the biggest brands, and is dedicated to providing nothing but quality makeup.

“Harvey Nichols are very excited to be launching this ground breaking new concept in Liverpool ONE, it represents yet another first for Harvey Nichols,” Daniela Rinaldi, Harvey Nichols Concession and Beauty Director said. “This new direction in retail will return beauty to the luxury proposition that the category once enjoyed; a feel-good experience that will deliver the very best collection of prestigious, niche and exclusive brands and services. She added: “Harvey Nichols has long held a reputation for delivering innovation within the beauty arena,” and this new addition aims to prove just how far they will take it to assure their longstanding customers that they are true innovators in this field, and will continually strive to improve for the good of their loyal following.

Familiarise yourself. This is huge news and it will be fascinating to see how things for this point onwards. Over time, there’s no telling whether it will manage to maintain the hype that it has thus far garnered, or if it grows to become a key feature of Liverpool and has people from all over flocking to pick up the exclusives that are found there. For all the girls how simply want to find out the most important details – who’s actually going to have concession stands there, they are upfront in their boasts of some top names. Going through the list, you’ll notice: Mac, The Organic Pharmacy, Bobbi Brown, Bliss, Clinique, Beyond Beauty, Benefit and YSL as just a handful of those you can expect to see.

What is this Crystal Head Vodka and why do you need to know about it? Well if you’ve ever seen a bottle of the stuff, you would be wondering no more, as a sight of it is all you’ll need to convert you into being a fan of the company’s idea of giving consumers a very complete vodka experience. You don’t even have to be a drinker to experience it either, so there aren’t any excuses if you’re not much of a spirits person. You can admire it from afar and admire it, you will, from the very moment you get a chance to see it, hear of its legacy and what it can offer to you or dinner guests at a special function you might hold. Crystal Head Vodka is a brand of premium vodka, which might not have even started off as vodka. You may be confused, but the initial plan was to create a bottle – not even a drink – so that’s where you need to focus your attention, at first. Birthed out of the imagination of co-founders, Dan Aykroyd and John Alexander, it’s based around the Tibetan legend of the 13 crystal skulls. The pair came up with an exotic and slick skull design, which is said to give its possessor enlightenment – something everyone can surely use a bit of, no matter how well they think they’re doing. So, what about the actual vodka? I bet you’re asking that question in your head right now, after they put so much attention to making it aesthetically pleasing. Well the plan to continue the purity of the bottle through to its contents was the reason why vodka was chosen to be contained within it. It wasn’t pre-planned, it just happened. And when they opted for vodka, they had to make it the best. Its water is distilled four times, after being sourced from Newfoundland; giving it the refreshing taste that keeps people coming back. If You don’t quite believe the hype, at least recognise the accomplishments. So far, Crystal Head Vodka has won numerous awards, including a Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Championship, which no one can knock them for.

88 million views and counting. That’s how broad the reach of one single video is, thanks to viral attention it received from the public. It was all the work of a charity by the name of Invisible Children, who hoped to raise awareness of the terrible crimes happening in Uganda at the hands of a complex criminal organisation led by a man called Joseph Kony. If you know little of the story, you must have been hiding under a rock for the first few months of the year. It was literally everywhere – from the Internet (where its attention was rapidly scattered across the globe, thanks to Twitter) to the traditional press – everyone received word of this pivotal video, which was designed to make the mastermind of a destructive ‘famous’, in order for International forces to apprehend him and bring him to justice.

While the best way to understand the initiative is to watch the film, the premise is that it shows the damage which the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) has done to Uganda. Recruiting child soldiers to fight with no specific cause, it’s the workings of Joseph Kony and his claims of being possessed by spirits. His claims have been convincing enough for him to abduct over 66,000 children in his time (1986-now) in order to allow him to evade capture from the local authorities. The youngsters are at the heart of Invisible Children’s initiatives, the charity would like to save them from the near-inevitable risk of being takes by Kony and his forces, which wouldn’t happen if the fugitive was arrested for the crimes he’s got away with for the past few decades.

If you’re still yet to see the “Kony 2012” thirty-minute film, one of the components of their action plan was to raise the profile of Joseph Kony with a ‘Cover the Night’ scheme. The plan was to donate money to the charity in order to get an action kit, from which you could pin up posters and various other things on 20th April, all across the globe. This, however, wasn’t as successful as they may have hoped, but those in-the-know have become aware of the public’s interest in Kony’s apprehension nonetheless and plans have been put into action to bring him to justice. Thus far, it hasn’t happened, but people can still donate to Invisible Children in order to restore order in Uganda and give them the upbringing they deserve.

Starting off as the Singapore Fashion Festival, back in 2001, the event might have changed its name over the years, but it still alive and well day. After briefly going under the guise of the Audi Fashion Festival, it has been known as the Audi Fashion Exchange and takes place annually as a week-long chance to sample the upcoming year’s worth of local fashion. While it may not have the same large platform as the ‘Big Four’ (New York, Milan, Paris and London) it has, nonetheless, been able to maintain a firm grip on the South East Asian fashion world for the past decade and keeps making people from all around the globe flock towards it in Spring.

For a country which previously hadn’t been known for having a very prominent interest in the arts, and its inhabitants who were could only indulge in magazines of the Western world, Singapore has come on leaps and bounds since the inception of this yearly event. Now, government is putting the pressure on to make the country one of the Asian hubs for arts and the Audi Fashion Exchange is at the heart of these plans. From the regional brands, such as Diet Butcher Slim Skin, Reckless Ericka and Beyond Closet, right through to British ones, like Bodybound, its a taster of the unique fashion stylings of that side of the world; giving a distinctive charm which might not be seen from the ‘Big Four’ and could even potentially inspire what their trends in the future.

If you’re the forward-thinking type and feel as though you simply don’t get enough of an project on the future of the high-street from the conventional fashion shows in Europe and the US, finding out what Singapore is sure to satisfy you and give you new ideas and be enlightened by the fashion’s next movements. The Audi Fashion Exchange (what some know as Singapore Fashion Week) is still in its early days too – so there’s still lots more development to be done before it’s even seen on the level of other up-and-coming events. Get in there and find out about it before the rest do.

It was a pivotal moment in the music industry. The technology might not be new. Its execution might have been seen before. But the scale and magnitude of 2Pac being projected as a hologram at Coachella 2012 will go down in the history books. For those who don’t know what we’re talking about, let’s picture the scene:

Dr. Dre was booked to headline Coachella Festival 2012. As a legend in the Hip Hop world, he was able to source a number of big names to perform with him. Included in his set were appearances from Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Wiz Khalifa. After performing one of his biggest tracks, “California Love”, the artist who he collaborated with on the song appeared. He hadn’t done this song with just any old artist. He’d done this song with 2Pac, Rap’s biggest superstar when it dropped. Unfortunately, however, he was killed shortly after the song came out. So how did they make it happen, you ask? Well, using cutting-edge technology, which some may remember from a Gorillaz performance in 2005, enabled the slain rapper to be resurrected as an animate hologram.

2Pac performed “Hail Mary” before doing “2 of America’z Most Wanted”, live on stage with Snoop Dogg at a massive Californian festival in April 2012, 15 years after his passing. You can only imagine what it felt like to be there. A life-like image of one of the world’s most recognisable figures doing what he does best, all this time after we thought we’d never see him again. Some see it as just the beginning of great things. Apparently the people behind this also brought Frank Sinatra back from the dead to perform at Simon Cowell’s 50th birthday recently too. Could it be the start of lost legends coming back to tour again, all these years after we thought it wouldn’t happen again? Who would you like to see? Bob Marley? Jimi Hendrix? Freddie Mercury? James Brown? Elvis Presley? Michael Jackson? The options are endless now.

This could revolutionise the live music industry. What are your thoughts? Would you pay to see your late idols one more time?
